Book Review: Animal Farm
I read Animal Farm as part of the challenge to read at least 50 books on the Modern Library's 100 Best Novels List. Reading through the introduction and preface, I initially thought I wouldn't be able to separate the novel from actual historical events. Animal Farm definitely served as a reminder as several revolutions in history. I took a class this past semester on revolutions in 20th century Latin America and much of what the animals on the farm were experiencing was experienced by actual citizens and revolutionaries of Latin American states. There was a sentiment written in the introduction that I agree completely with - the novel has a way of "[moving] by not seeking to move; almost, it seems, by not seeking to move." Animal Farm has a way of presenting political tactics and rebellion in a simple and appealing manner. I would give it four and half (out of five) blueberries.

Preparation for the Sound to Narrows 2014!
Today is day one of my preparation for - drumroll please - the Sound to Narrows.
For those of you that don’t live in the Puget Sound area, the Sound to Narrows consists of a 12k or 5k run/walk, 5k youth run, 2k Junior Shuffle, and even a 20-yard Diaper Dash for the tots.
I would’ve never thought to attempt a race of such magnitude considering both my knees are rubbish and I run like a sea lion, but I figured it’s nothing I would’ve ever considered doing, so why not do it? If it weren’t for my aunt who asked me to join her in next year’s S2N, I wouldn’t have realized there was a walking option. I need to work on my endurance and generally get back into shape, but it’s a fantastic opportunity and challenge - and I have a year to prepare for it! Wish me luck?

Starbucks Secret Menu - Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Knowing that I love cinnamon, I figured this would hit the spot today (it being a terrible, horrible, no-good, very-bad day) and boy was I right. YUMM.
Ask for a white chocolate mocha frappuccino with cinnamon dolce syrup (1 pump for tall, 1.5 for grande, 2 for venti), hazelnut syrup (1 pump for tall, 1,5 for grande, 2 for venti), and cinnamon sugar blended in. Top with whipped cream and more cinnamon sugar!

Starbucks Secret Menu - Red Tuxedo Frappuccino
Similar to the tuxedo frappuccino, this has white chocolate and dark chocolate with a splash of raspberry that lightens the chocolatey load. Sweet, smooth, and tasty!
